BRUSSELS COMMERCE DESIGN, YOUR BUSINESS SELECTED…AND A WINNER!
– 25 february 2017 –
Are you a shopkeeper, architect, decorator or designer? Did you set up your business in Brussels less than three years ago? In partnership with Atrium.Brussels, Commerce Design Brussels is giving you the opportunity to win the award for best design business in Brussels.
Launched in 2010, the Brussels Commerce Design contest rewards the most successful retail designs in the Brussels’ region. The prize is awarded annually to track the dynamics and changes in shops in Brussels.
Commerce Design was born in 1995 in Montreal with the purpose of highlighting the importance of quality design, done by professionals, in retail space plans.
The idea quickly spread to other cities around the world. In Brussels, we started with the following observation: creative, professional layouts are no longer the sole domain of the luxury industry or of chic and trendy neighbourhoods, but are spreading throughout the Region.
Commerce Design Brussels was launched in synergy with Brussels Design September to provide national and international recognition for this project and better inclusion in the challenges facing the city and its retail and urban development policy.
“Brussels is positioning itself as an increasingly prized Design destination,” notes Roel Rijssenbeek, artistic director of the event. “Shops play a fundamental role in the reputation of the Brussels Region; the experience they provide their clients has a direct impact on the appeal of our city. It is therefore essential that retailers work with an architect or a designer to develop their space. As a result, we’re very happy to strengthen our collaboration with Atrium.Brussels for the Commerce Design Awards.”
Interested? You have until June 15 to submit your application. After that date, a jury of design professionals will meet to analyse the submissions and make a first selection. Twenty of the shops will be visited by the jury.
The ten winners will be announced to the media in September 2017. The public will then vote for their favourite(s) among the winners during August and September. The winner will be announced, and the awards presented, on 28 September 2017, during the Brussels Commerce Design Award ceremony.
